The Discussion of the Suspension Transaction for not Making Amends [BMC]

idha pana bhikkhave bhikkhu āpattiṁ āpajjitvā na icchati āpattiṁ paṭikātuṁ.

“Monks, there is the case where a monk, having fallen into an offense, refuses to make amends.

tatra ce bhikkhūnaṁ evaṁ hoti ayaṁ kho āvuso bhikkhu āpattiṁ āpajjitvā na icchati āpattiṁ paṭikātuṁ handassa mayaṁ āpattiyā appaṭikamme ukkhepanīyakammaṁ karomāti.

“Now suppose the thought occurs to the monks, ‘Friends, this monk, having fallen into an offense, refuses to make amends. Let’s impose a suspension transaction on him for not making amends for an offense.”

te tassa āpattiyā appaṭikamme ukkhepanīyakammaṁ karonti adhammena vaggā .pe.

“They, a faction, impose a suspension transaction that is not in accordance with the Dhamma on him for not making amends for an offense. …

adhammena samaggā.

“United … not in accordance with the Dhamma.

dhammena vaggā.

“A faction … in accordance with the Dhamma.

dhammapaṭirūpakena vaggā.

“A faction … a semblance of the Dhamma.

dhammapaṭirūpakena samaggā.

“United … a semblance of the Dhamma.

cakkaṁ kātabbaṁ.
